Rohit Sharma & Harbhajan Singh retained in Mumbai Indians this IPL 7

Known to be one of the eight founding members of the IPL in 2008, Mumbai Indians is the franchise cricket team that represents the financial capital of India, Mumbai. Being one of the main teams in the city, along with football club Mumbai FC and the Mumbai cricket club, the team is owned by India’s largest conglomerate Reliance Industries- through its 100% subsidiary IndiaWin Sports.  

Known to be one of the most successful players in the IPL, Rohit Sharma has a unique record of ending each match by scoring a six. Other than this, Rohit Sharma is also known for having scored an IPL century. This right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm off break bowler is known to have been the leading run scorers in the 2008 IPL season.

 In 2009, in the IPL season he was appointed as the Vice-Captain of the Deccan Chargers. He was also briefly coveted the Orange Cap, which is an achievement awarded to the best batsman of the IPL. It was then, that he was awarded the IPL hat-trick, being the fifth bowler to bag this. He was later awarded as the best U-23 player of the tournament.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) bought Sharma in the 2011 IPL for USD 2 million. It was then that he was later promoted to serve as the permanent captain of Mumbai Indians in the 2013 season, as Ricky Ponting was benched because of poor form. However, under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians won the IPL for the first time. In addition to this, he also helped the team to win the Champions League T20 in 2013.

This IPL 7, to be held in April 2014 Mumbai Indians made it a point to retain five key players; Rohit Shama, Harbhajan Singh, Kieron Pollard, Lasith Malinga and Ambati Rayudu. Rohit and Pollard are well-known to be skippers, while Ambati Rayudu is a talented batsman who can also double up as a wicketkeeper, Harbhajan Singh is a senior off-spinner and Lasith Malinga is a quick bowler.

Former captain of IPL team, Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh- a specialist bowler is known for holding the record of having the second-highest number of Test wickets by an off-spinner. Bhajji, (as he is fondly called by his fans, friends and by the cricketing world) has been involved in the IPL since 2009. Being a seasoned campaigner for both Mumbai Indians and Team India, this cricketer is constantly on a mission: to lead his team to IPL title, take wickets and win his place back in Team India.
